With an aim to cater to the needs of teacher education in Barak Valley, a group of educationists took the initiative to establish a Teacher Training College in the year 1994, under the title - 'Silchar College of Education'.The aim was to produce secondary level qualified and trained teachers in the region. 'The profession of teaching remains incomplete without a proper theoretical and practical training. The classes had started from 15th August, 94. This nomenclature has been duly approved by the Assam University, Silchar and NCTE by notification at the national level. National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has accepted and acknowledged the certification of Bachelor Education of this college.

Location

Our college stands on Nagatillah, Uttar Krishnapur, part-I, Silchar-Aizawl Road about 3 km off Rangirkhari point and 5 km away of Silchar town. The college is connected with the town both by Sumo, Cruiser service and bus services. The rickshaws and tempoos are also available from Rangirkhari point.

• Teacher Education is an active process and means a life of discipline to be lived. Trainees are to be disciplined in every respect.
• Trainees of this college are to inculcate constructive and nationalistic attitudes and cultivate some positive values.
• Trainees are to develop the qualities of a successful teacher.
• Trainees are required to be interested in academic thoughts, discussions and activities. They are to judge everything from academic point of view and shun everything unacademic.
• Trainees should have a genuine love for their institution. They must under all circumstances identify themselves with this institution. Development of this college should remain their top priority.They are to uphold the prestige and dignity of their beloved institution by their decent behaviour, good manners, sound knowledge, love for the profession and sincerity.
